Confidentiality Commitment

The Therapist is committed to maintaining strict confidentiality regarding all information shared by the Client during therapy sessions, in accordance with professional ethical guidelines and applicable data protection laws (e.g., GDPR) www.gov.uk

 

 

Client Information

Confidential information includes, but is not limited to:

  • Personal, emotional, or psychological details shared by the Client
  • Identifying data such as name, contact information, and medical history
  • Session notes and therapeutic records
  • Communications (emails, texts, or any electronic correspondence related to therapy)

 

 

Storage and Protection of Data

  • I am registered with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) ico.org.uk and comply with the UK GDPR.
  • All session records and client communications will be securely stored on encrypted, password-protected devices or platforms.
  • The Therapist uses secure video conferencing platforms for online sessions, selected for their compliance with privacy and data protection standards.
  • Compliant with the standards of the Information Commissioner’s Office   ico.org.uk

 

Limits to Confidentiality

Confidentiality may be breached only under the following circumstances:

  • Risk of harm: If the Therapist believes the Client poses a serious risk of harm to themselves or others.
  • Legal obligation: If required by court order or legal proceedings.
  • Committing an offence concerning, Drug Trafficking, Terrorism and Money Laundering
  • Safeguarding concerns: If there is a disclosure of abuse or neglect concerning a child or vulnerable adult.
  • Supervision: Confidential client information may be discussed with a qualified clinical supervisor to ensure best therapeutic practice; however, client anonymity will be maintained.

 

 

Consent to Communication

The Client consents to communication via electronic means (e.g., email or secure video conferencing). The Client acknowledges that while reasonable measures will be taken to ensure privacy, complete security cannot be guaranteed with online communication.

 

 

Duration and Termination

This agreement remains in effect for the duration of the therapeutic relationship and continues for as long as the Therapist retains client records, in accordance with professional standards (typically 7 years post-therapy for adults, or up to 7 years after a minor turn 18).
